69kV (138kV Capability) Wisconsin River Transmission Crossings
Upgrade of (4) 46kV Double-Circuit Lines across the Wisconsin River in Wausau, Wisconsin & Upgrade of (1) 24.9kV Overhead Line across the Wisconsin River in Stevens Point, Wisconsin
Wausau Project Scope:
The scope required relocation of four (4) 46kV, 1000 – 1250 ft. double-circuit spans across the Wisconsin River, located in Marathon County, Wisconsin. The project design included the removal of existing dead-end steel lattice towers and h-frames with the installation of two (2) new double-circuit 46kV lines, with 138kV spacing, on new 135 ft. steel mono-pole dead-end structures, on concrete pier foundations. The pier foundations were drilled into granite bedrock at each crossing. One span included the installation of a fiber optical ground wire (OPGW). Structures immediately adjacent to the crossing structures were also replaced.
The scope required relocation of one (1) 24.9kV, 950 ft. single-circuit span across the Wisconsin River, located in Portage County, Wisconsin. The project design included the removal of existing dead-end steel lattice towers, and the installation of the new 24.9kV line, with 138kV capability, on the new 100 ft. steel mono-pole dead-end structures, on concrete foundations.
Realtime provided the engineering, permit/access drawings, and provided on-site construction inspections for the relocation of the five (5) river crossings. Realtime specified soil boring locations and depths, and utilized the soil analysis to design drilled, pier type foundations. Conventional client survey data was also used to build and analyze PLS-CADD models of the water crossings.
