Various Wind Project Collection Systems

Each of the projects listed below included layout design and cables sizing. Layout design considers the ease of the construction, availability of property for routing, underground obstructions, and turbine location. Cable sizes are determined based on routing, anticipated load, fault current potential, and soil characteristics. Wind park design requires load flow studies, short circuit studies, grounding studies, loss analysis, and in some cases, harmonic studies, reactive capability studies, and arc flash studies.

Realtime’s Collection System Projects Include:

  • Dry Lake I – Wind Park in Arizona consisting of 63MW, (30) turbines, and over (45) miles of underground 34.5kV cable.
  • Dry Lake II – Wind Park in Arizona consisting of 65.1MW, (31) turbines, and over (53) miles of underground 34.5kV cable.
  • Titan I – Wind Park in Maryland, consisting of 25MW, (10) turbines, and over (11) miles of underground 34.5kV cable. Work included preliminary engineering only.
  • Shirley – Wind Park in Wisconsin consisting of 20MW, (8) turbines, and (15) miles of underground 24.9kV cable.
  • Criterion – Wind Park in Maryland consisting of 70MW, (28) turbines, and (48) miles of underground 34.5kV cable.
  • Wells Prairie – Wind Park consisting of 298.8MW, (1,668) turbines, and an anticipated (450) miles of overhead and underground 34.5kV cable. Work included preliminary engineering only.
  • Cedar Creek II – Wind Park in Colorado consisting of 250.8MW, (132) turbines, and (250) miles of underground 34.5kV cable.
  • Blue Canyon VI – Wind Park in Oklahoma consisting of 99MW, (55) turbines, and (46) miles of underground 34.5kV cable.
  • Flat Ridge II – Wind Park in Kansas consisting of 470.4MW, (294) turbines, and (450) miles of underground and overhead 34.5kV cable.
  • Minonk – Wind Park in Illinois consisting of 200.0MW, (100) turbines, and (148) miles of underground 34.5kV cable.
  • Senate – Wind Park in Texas consisting of 150.0MW, (75) turbines, and (130) miles of underground 34.5kV cable.
  • Swauk Ranch – Wind Park in Washington consisting of 4250kW. This project consisted of turbine grounding only.
  • High Mesa – Wind Park in Idaho consisting of 39.9MW, (19) turbines, and (14) miles of underground 34.5kV cable.
  • Galactic – Wind Park in Wisconsin in which the project consists of evaluating the interconnect options for a 10MW wind park.
