Jim Helvig, P.E. has more than 20 years of experience in the power delivery industry, and served as Realtime’s Vice President of Electrical Engineering for five years. As President, Jim is responsible for leading all aspects of Realtime’s operations.  He provides leadership, expertise, vigor, and passion for the betterment and growth of Realtime, through adherence to Realtime’s Mission, Vision, and Values. Jim is responsible for preserving a strong company culture with a focus on outstanding engineering deliverables that meet our customers’ needs, resulting in lasting relationships. Jim has extensive experience in providing engineering services for IOU and G&T/COOP utility customers, as well as renewable owners, developers, and electrical contractors. Through his 25 years of military service, Jim brings a team level focus on leadership that creates a strong culture of mutual accountability and technical excellence. He has served as a RMEL Foundation Board Member, held several leadership positions in the IEEE, and is a licensed Professional Engineer.

David Herbst, P.E., Director of Field Services, has over 35 years of experience in the utility industry. Over the past thirteen years, Mr. Herbst has built and managed the Field Services Team at Realtime, while continuing to be hands on with substation and commissioning and testing work. His management expertise extends to relay, SCADA, and maintenance technicians, while also servicing over 300 plus distribution and transmission substations and switchyards throughout his career. Mr. Herbst values continued education and training opportunities, and leads frequent internal training seminars at Realtime University. Mr. Herbst is also a guest speaker at local universities for various topics relating to the power industry. Mr. Herbst is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Wisconsin.

Mitchell Bradt, P.E. has more than 20 years of experience in the electrical utility industry, serving in various roles such as Supervising Engineer, Project Engineer, P&C Engineer, and his most recent promotion, Director of Electrical Engineering for the Fitchburg, Wisconsin office. He has extensive knowledge of every aspect of substation design from site preparation to project closeout. He oversees electrical, civil, and structural associated engineering, and is responsible for the supervision of his engineering project teams. Mr. Bradt’s excellence in communication with clientele assures that Realtime is meeting the client’s quality standards and expectations. Mr. Bradt is a founder of Realtime University, and is responsible for the development, coordination, and presentation of engineering curriculum, for all staff levels. He is a graduate of the Dale Carnegie Leadership Training, and a licensed Professional Engineer in 20 states.
