Birdsboro 230kV Underground Transmission Line & Substation

Realtime with fellow Quanta Services partner M.J. Electric provided engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, testing and startup (EPC) services of a 230kV switch-yard and transmission line for a nominal 485 megawatt (MW) natural gas-fired combined cycle combustion turbine electric generating facility for Birdsboro Power LLC.

Project work consisted of the complete engineering and design for the facilities required to successfully interconnect the power output of Birdsboro Power Project with the local utilities transmission systems, including:

  • A 230kV, three (3)-breaker ring bus switch-yard per local utilities requirements for connection to their system.
  • A 230kV line panel to be installed at the power plant
  • A 230kV transmission tie-line, consisting of a combination of overhead and underground components, to connect the facility to the new switch-yard.
